The War Against Smokers

Are snide comments from non-smokers getting you down? Are cigarette sin taxes too high to pay? Do you feel like a second class citizen amongst your non-smoking peers? Don't get frustrated, get angry!

Leave a statement here about what you think of the "War Against Smokers".

All those prepared to use their voice and their vote, actually have the freedom to do so.

The time for stoic silence is long over.

Angry Smoker-read you on Smokers Club Internaional. You are not alone. Below I've posted the site for the Statewide Smoking ban here in WI. I live in Madison, WI land of the Capitol Antis!!! I am a nonperson here these days-and active in whatever capacity I am able to to fight the social engineering of our city/state. That said, the proposed legislation below is being held out to we smokers as a compromise. Senator Fred Risser has sent out a memo for support of a different smoking ban that is exactly what we have here in Madison, WI right now. Which is no smoking anywhere, except in your own home/apt/condo- if I would look at that thinking down the road (in the land of Antis) if I do not own my own home/apt/condo-it too is public accomodation (ie.rent) it will be banned also.
Also, here in WI Gov. Doyle has proposed a dollar increase in cig tax to come into effect Jan 1, 2006. That would bring per pack tax to 1.74 (thereabouts) to cover/balance budget next year. If the below ban is passed, it will molify statewide smokers (maybe?) and we smokers will take it in the chin quietly as we have done in the past. Gov Doyle stopped the initial gathering of past online cig tax...I believe to get in line for the future of Fed control of chasing the elusive online state/fed collection of taxes (to balance budgets). It' always easier to kick it upstairs to the boss and escape blame on who taxed who. (Why else is Homeland Security so eager to have the ability to get into private PCs-yes, terrorists threats aside-it always comes down to money/taxes and the DOJ will be full behind this.)The States AG's are scrambling to get more out of Tobacco Settlement..Supreme Court not accepting proposals as is...where will they get their funding they are so accustomed to (off the backs of the sintax folks). And obviously I could go on and on.
I thank you for "listening"...my heart hurts for the anger and meanness of those who have no tolerance/acceptance of those who live around/with us.

"Proposal: AB-414 (05-2833)

Relating to: smoking in restaurants and bowling centers and the regulation of
smoking by counties, c...

That's very depressing news. How can a country that claims to be free, even consider such bans? Has everyone totally forgotten what it means to be free.

We lost the War against Terrorism. The bastards shot us straight through the heart.

Now we are imploding. In ten years, we won't be able to do anything. The loss of civil liberties has started with smoking and will move on to all aspects of our lives.

Since the manager of my mobile home community removed ashtrays from the clubhouse porch, citing the new law (no smoking within 25 feet of an entrance), I have simply extinguished my cigarettes on one of the tables. I posted a note stating," Provide ashtrays or get used to cleaning up cigarette butts on the porch floor and tables."

I am just sick and tired of going to a resturant and seeing a bunch of people order drink after drink and leave the resturant driving, while I have to sit there not being allowed to smoke. I am not the one that is getting behind the wheel of a car with the odds of killing someone's child
I know there is not much hope for us smokers. Your site helps ups cope with the anger of being singled out.

I think its a dam shame. I enjoy smoking and have enjoyed it for 25 years. Is it bad for my health? Sure it is! Every dam thing you put in your body these days are bad for your health. From the chemicals on the food to the way they are processed.
What is really a shame is the way the tobacco companies are being totally hammered by the government.
The last judgement from a government case ordered billions of dollars to be paid by tobacco companies over a 10 year period and if the youth smoking rate does not decrease by 43% there will be billions more to pay. The entirement judgment looked like something Hitler would have written.

My employer has banned smoking on their property - it is a fire-able offense to smoke anywhere, including inside my own vehicle in their parking lot when I am off the clock. This same employer has RETAINED employees without loss of one minute of senority who have disappeared up to a year while off on crack binges (illegal drug use is okay if you later get your act together, but use of legal tobacco is not?) They do not own the air outside... and certainly not my automobile. I believe this is a violation of my rights as an American citizen and we need to fight this war with some class action lawsuits. I am also looking for a local source of sniffing snuff.

I'm smoker. I'm a citizen. I'm an American, born here, going to die here. They are beating the smokers to death while there are drug dealers selling crack to kids on the street! They are so worried about second hand smoke but it seems it's okay to be hooked on crystal meth, cocaine, heroine etc. I think we should stand up and tell crusty old uncle sam that we have the right to choose... pretend it's the argument for abortion... EVERYONE has a RIGHT TO CHOOSE regardless of what they choose. we have to stop the government from making the choices for us. Smokers need to unite against this fascist tyrany!

It's been scientifically established that secondhand smoke is harmless and anyone who says otherwise is a bald-faced liar. Most nonsmokers don't care about the lie; they LIKE the ego trip of kicking smokers around, The answer is to give it back double.

As a college student doing a paper on issues in social policy in regards to smoking bans, I would be very interested in seeing any studies scientifically establishing the harmlessness of secondhand smoke.

IN REALITY, WE ARE VICTUMS OF BEING A MINORITY. ALL OF THE ISSUES - WHICH HAVE BEEN VOTED ON - ARE THE RESULT OF NON-SMOKERS OUTSHINING SMOKERS AT THE POLES. THIS SITUATION IS NOT IMPROVING FOR SMOKERS OVER TIME.
WE HAVE TO GET SMART ABOUT HOW WE SMOKE AND WHERE. TO IGNORE A NON-SMOKERS DESIRE TO BE SUROUNDED BY CLEAN AIR (ADMITTEDLY NON-ATTAINABLE IN MOST URBAN AREAS WITH OR WITHOUT TOBACCO) JUST ADDS FUEL TO THE FIRE. THE WITCH HUNT IS REAL, AND IS GETTING WORSE.

I don't smoke now, but I did in high school. I hated the fact that I could be chased down and busted just because I was an "underage smoker". Now my generation are all adults in our late 20s, yet in many places we are still being hunted down and busted for smoking in public eventhough we're of legal age.

From what I understand, Chicago, New York City and Los Angeles' smoking bans are the strictest, nearly banning smoking anywhere except in one's own home.

I find it laughable and outrageous at the same time that tax-paying, voting adults are being hunted down and busted as if they were underage high school students trying to catch a drag at lunch.

I also believe that if the anti-smoking movement gets their way, cigarettes will be totally outlawed and will be treated the same way marijuana is treated now.

As a libertarian and freedom lover, it simply disgusts me. Smokers need to stop feeling ashamed and need to start standing up for their rights. I think smokers should blow smoke in the faces of those who make their snide little comments about them. I also think smokers should congregate in large groups and smoke in the streets of Chicago. They can't hunt down and bust everyone after all.

I am so tired of being treated like filth because I smoke. My state just passed a bill for taking smoking out of bars over a period of 3 years. I want to see one death certificate that says "died of second hand smoke". The assholes that tryed to pass this bill wouldn't enter a bar, so they try to pretend its for the safety of the employees. These are not $100,000 dollar a year jobs they know what they are going into and most of the bartenders smoke and if they don't smoke they don't care that we do. STAND UP SMOKERS DON'T LET THIS KEEP GOING ON!

My town just passed a non-smoking law that goes into effect next week. I'm furious! We are the only county that has passed one and almost every other county is 10 minutes away. Already our sales are down. Yet the non-smokers-rights-for-only-us-because-we-are-more-special-than-anyone-else claim business is booming. Where? Not my job! Not EITHER of my jobs! Now all bar patrons must go outside to smoke. Brilliant move! Lets have drunks standing 2 feet from a major intersection in Akron Ohio! It doesn't really matter if the stagger off the sidewalk and into the street! They smoke! They deserve to get hit by a car!
/sarcasm
It's just wrong. I work 2 jobs, go to college and volunteer as a tutor yet I'm being treated like a second class citizen. I damn well PAY for that sidewalk they are standing on protesting the businesses that are fighting this "law"
We didn't even vote on it. We didn't get a chance. it passed 6 members to 5! The 6th guy sold his vote for changes to another bill he was pressing! I never thought I would hate this country. I've been trying to get my boyfriend to come here from England for 2 years. I'm content now to apply to grad school over there!
It's shameful.

There is a war going on against smokers. There are still smokers who don't see it. They are in shock when non smokers say something horrible to them. They can't see this war. It has been going on for years. Like the elephant being eaten alive by ants. Not only that, we are being taxed without representation. Just like the Boston Tea Party that took place when the Queen of England wanted to tax us on this side of the pond. WE got mad and we fought for our freedom. Come on Smokers. Wake up and smell the coffee before they ban coffee too. Stop going to places your not wanted. Only shop, spend your money where you are welcomed. We are more then just a few. there are 46 million of us in America today. We can and should fight back. WE must because it is not going to stop. How many non smokers are over weight? Well, fat people are next. We are being controlled by a group of Americans as though we are illigal Alliens. We are treated as though we have no rights. We have to stand up and NO NON SMOKER CAN STOP YOU IF YOU GIVE THEM BACK WHAT THEY GIVE TO YOU. One night I went to a Native American Casino. (by the way all smokers should only go to Native American Casinos because they like smokers) and I was sitting in the smoking section, and this woman sat down and started waiving her hand, snorting, grunting in my direction. So I said to her: look when I am in your section, I don't light up, so while your in my section, please hold your breath. Man did she get mad. She jumped up and stomped off. Back to her non smoking section. Ha Ha.
we just have to fight back. Writing on this blog is one way. let people know about angrysmoker. to all of you out there who do not smoke all I have to say is "screw you!" Thanks

Well Folks, it has finally happened. I don't know how many of you are from that stupid town in Ca. called Calabasa but I am not surprised this 30,000 resedence community would do the ultamite to smokers: TOTALLY BAN SMOKING IN THIS TOWN.

The mayor,Barry Groveman, is very proud of himself. He feels he finally "got the smokers and their deadly second hand smoke" taken care of. oh, did I mention there are also fines if you are caught smoking and your neighbors can turn you in,just like Nazi Germany.

For all of the smokers living and visiting this town I have this to say: Shop everywhere else but CALABASAS!! Do not give that City government one more dime of your money.

The starbucks about 6 feet out side the Calabasas city limits is a good place to go to enjoy your cigarette and coffee. They still allow smoking.

You can destroy Calabasas's economy and show them that smokers have rights too. No one has the right to take away your freedom, UNLESS YOU LET THEM.

This situation is not going away on it's own. If smokers would have fought back to begin with, this issue would have ended long ago. Freedom is for all Americans not just non smokers.

Thank you, a business owner in Ca. (not in Calabasas, Thank God!)

I live in Arkansas.(I always thought that was a good thing.) Now we (smokers) are being treated like criminals. Our SOS, Stamp Out Smoking, group have put a commercial on tv that is so offensive that I can't believe that they are allowed to air it. It is a bunch of teenagers sitting outside. Then you hear "Ted Bundy, Jeffery Dommer. Do you want to be like the serial killers?" and the kids all yell "yes". Then the announcer says that you can be like the serial killers by smoking. If this was said about any other group of people it would be pulled from the station so fast it would make your head spin. This commercial that I'm helping pay for unfortunately as a citizen is so offensive I can't believe it is on the air. I'm so sick of this. What do I do, where do I go?

Why hasn't the ACLU taken up the cause of smokers civil liberties?

Uhh.. because they don't want to be associated with morons dumb enough to smoke?

6:25 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Why doesn't the ACLU take up a cause for the smokers? you ask??? It's not because we are dumb asses.
it is because there isn't enough money involved. They would rather spend their time with NOW groups, or help keep abortion going. I am pretty sure if a smoker went to the ACLU, they would not get any help. But, if smokers went to a civil attorney they could have a class action lawsuit against their city, state or employer. Why don't we do that? Maybe out there this is now happening. You non smokers like your drink, pot, and porn. I don't do that stuff. But I do smoke. quit for 21 years. Big deal. So I started again, but this time chemical free cigarettes. Made by Native American tribes. There is a difference and no taxes.
No, we are not stupid just gullible to think the attacks on us would go away. Now, we know, this is not going to die quietly. For all of those non smokers who get on this web site and say your disgusting, hateful words, big deal, we hear it all the time. It just makes me want to lite up again. So, I think I will.

Actually there is:

http://tinyurl.com/p752p

That's right, Altria made $10.4 billion (with a B) off your dumb, wheezing ass. The cigarette company executives are riding around in Escalades while you morons try to figure out why you can't get health insurance and/or a job.

Cigarette companies just LOVE "smokers' rights" groups. The more of you retards they can get hooked and keep hooked, the better for their profits. And a dumbass who'll actually pay for the cigarette company's PR out of their own pocket by creating a blog - pure gold!!

The ACLU doesn't like you for the same reason the rest of the educated public doesn't - only really really stupid people smoke..

Hopefully this post will make you "lite" up one more time. Maybe that's the cigarette that starts that little tumor growing in your lung. Or maybe you already have several large ones crowding each other for room and just don't know yet - had a chest X-ray recently?

BLACKHAWK SAYS THEY PAY $1.75 TAX TRY LIVING IN CHICAGO. THE SMOKING BAN WENT INTO EFFECT ONE DAY AND THE NEXT DAY A $1.00 TAX INCREASE WENT INTO EFFECT, MAKING CHICAGO THE HIGHEST TAX PAYING FOR A PACK OF CIGARETTES.IT NOW COST $8.00 FOR A PACK IN SOME PLACES.
